Assessment of Soil Vulnerability Index for surface runoff in Kawal watershed, Bintan island

چکیده
Abstract The quantity of transformed land cleared after deforestation in the basin demonstrates severity soil erosion on Bintan Island. Deposition eroded material causes eutrophication, blockage, and silting channels water bodies, as well flooding lowlands coasts. Heavy rainfall sparse cover vegetation ravaged structure soil, further preventing it from storing absorbing water, which increased surface runoff had an impact rising rates. goal this study was to evaluate vulnerability class using SVI. SVI is based slope extracted digital elevation model, hydrologic group, erodibility. results classification for mapping susceptibility resulted areas with low criteria 7% (664 ha), medium 14% (1,229 ha) high 79% (7,069 ha). major influences Kawal watershed island appeared be rainfall, type, use, gradient.

Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP), a process based erosion model that computes spatial and temporal distributions of surface runoff, soil loss and sediment deposition from overland flow on hillslopes and soil loss and sediment deposition from concentrated flow in small channels. In the present study, surface runoff and soil loss were simulated in a mini watershed (57 ha) of Sitlarao water...
متن کاملEstimation of soil cracking and the effect on surface runoff in a Texas Blackland Prairie watershed
Seasonal cracking of the soil matrix results in poor estimates of runoff and infiltration by simulation models due to the changing soil storage conditions. In this study, soil surface elevation changes were measured every two weeks and soil crack volume was calculated for a two-year period at the USDA-Agricultural Research Service, Riesel Y-2 watershed in central Texas. Soil anchors were placed...
متن کاملVulnerability assessment of surface water quality with an innovative integrated multi-parameter water quality index (IMWQI)
The development of a surface water evaluation index is a critical factor in the assessment, restoration and protection of stream water quality. Quantifying water pollution in specific grade using dominant parameters is important, as this can explain the current state of water pollution with accuracy. As a result, an integrated multi-parameter water quality index has been developed. It is based ...
